Giving Back To The Community
Willowbrook Shopping Centre is proud to give back! With the support of our shoppers, retailers, and suppliers, we are able to help out our local community year-round. Willowbrook's primary giving focus is education - to provide a real and positive impact on the education and lives of thousands of great kids at the elementary and high school level! We also support numerous other community causes including health and wellness and environmental sustainability.
In the past year, Willowbrook Shopping Centre has supported 105 organizations, giving $56,000 + in direct cash donations and sponsorships, as well as over 180 days of in-kind centre space donations that raised over $136,000 from 3rd party fundraising. Giving Highlights
BC SUMMER GAMES - JULY 2010
Willowbrook Shopping Centre was a proud supporter of the BC Summer Games held in Langley from July 22 - July 24.
LANGLEY CANADA DAY CELEBRATION – JUNE/JULY 2010
Willowbrook was also a proud Community Sponsor of the Langley Canada Day Celebration held at the McLeod Athletic Park on June 30 and July 1.
HEART AND STROKE FOUNDATION OF BC & YUKON – JUNE 2010
Members of Willowbrook Shopping Centre’s Hearts in Motion Walking Club and staff from the Willowbrook Administration Office participated in the Heart and Stroke Foundation Bike Bike 2010 Ride in June 2010. We raised over $7500 for the cause and won the Team Spirit Award for Langley!
MACS FOR KIDS – APRIL 2010
Seven computers were awarded to Langley schools as a result of Willowbrook Shopping Centre's Spring Macs for Kids competition. During the competition period, shoppers brought their shopping centre sales receipts to Willowbrook's Customer Service and in return, their chosen school received points for each dollar spent. The winning school, Willoughby Elementary, was awarded five new Mac desktop computers from Willowbrook Shopping Centre. The two runner-up schools - Langley Meadows Community Elementary and Langley Fine Arts - each received a Macbook courtesy of Willowbrook's Simply Computing & Camera.
EASTER PHOTOS – MARCH/APRIL 2010
Through March and April, customers of all ages hopped on down for photos with the Easter Bunny! Net proceeds of sales supported the Langley School District Foundation. In total, $3,816 was raised for the foundation through Easter photo sales, thanks to our customers.
CANADIAN PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE – MARCH 2009 TO MARCH 2010
Willowbrook Shopping Centre along with Bentall LP, supported the Canadian Paralympic Committee through 2009 and 2010. This nation wide campaign raised more than $85,000 for our Canadian Paralympic Athletes, and Willowbrook directly contributed over $11,000. These funds were raised through the support of our staff, retailers and customers at various events, athlete appearances, meet and greet with Olympic Torches, cupcake days, and more!
